Perry rolls to Alexandria Council re-election, runoffs ahead for three offices

District 3 Alexandria City Council member Cynthia Perry won a new term In convincing fashion Tuesday.

Contests for two other seats are going to runoffs in December, with incumbents trailing in each, as is the race for District D police juror.

Perry defeated Uncle Willie Chark 62% to 38% in a rematch of their previous contest. Turnout was 45.6% of registered voters in the district.

In the at-large contest former District 3 councilman Jules Green had 42% and incumbent Lee Rubin had 32%. Tracye Snow had the remainder of the 15,134 votes cast. That’s a turnout of 54%.

Malcom Larvadain and incumbent Reddex Washington Jr. will face off in the District 1 runoff, as they did in 2020.

Larvadain had 42% and Washington 37%.  Derrick Alexander ran third. Turnout was 42.1%.

The jury runoff will match Randy Harris, 44%, against interim appointee Ernest Nelson, 29%. Chris Caffery ran third with 28%, 40 votes behind Nelson.

All totals are unofficial until certified next week.
