The Red River Athletic Conference Tournament tips a three-day run today at the Rapides Parish Coliseum with the LSUA basketball teams aiming for spots in the NAIA Tournament.

The Generals, who claimed the RRAC regular-season championship, play their first-round game at 8:15 tonight against eighth-seeded Paul Quinn. Possible semifinal foes are No. 4 LSUS or fifth-seeded Our Lady of the Lake.

The LSUA women get going this morning at 9:45 as the third seed, meeting No. 6 Our Lady of the Lake. No. 2 Xavier is a likely semifinal foe for the Lady Generals Saturday afternoon.

The Louisiana College women have a tough first-round game against conference champion LSU Shreveport at 1:15. LCU star Princis Goff was a first-team All-RRAC selection.

Both LSUA coaches won accolades in voting from their peers earlier this week.

Billy Perkins was named the conference women’s coach of the year for helping the Lady Generals (22-5 overall, 19-3 in the RRAC) to a breakthrough season and a tie for second in the league.

First-year Generals’ bench boss Dimario Jackson won the men’s award after leading LSUA to the RRAC crown with a 21-6 overall record and a 19-3 regular season conference mark.

LSUA’s Kashie Natt was the only repeat pick on the All-RRAC first team, and was named player of the year. The junior swingman from Rayville, La., was fourth in the RRAC in scoring (16.5 points per game) and first in rebounding (10.0 per game). Natt helped the Generals win their seventh regular season championship and first since 2019-20.

Teammate Isaiah Howard shared RRAC freshman of the year honors. Senior Jadarrian Allen was a first-team all-conference pick along with Natt. Junior Jason Perry made the second team along with Louisiana Christian’s Jude Alabeuze.

Senior guard Dannah Martin-Hadwick was a repeat first-team selection for LSUA on the women’s All-RRAC team. Junior guard Jewel Jones made the second team.

Semifinals are Saturday, with the women’s round tipping at 1 and the men’s at 5:30. Championship games Sunday are set for 2 (women) and 4:30.
