The Police Jury plans to consider calling another election to fund the Renaissance shelter.
That will be done at the jury’s January 8 meeting.
Notice of the intent is included in the agenda for this month’s jury session. That agenda was posted Thursday afternoon. The December meeting is Monday at 3 p.m.
A proposal to almost double the Renaissance property tax to fund expanded detention as well as continue current operations was soundly rejected by those who voted last month.
Specifics of the possible election call are not outlined in the agenda notice. The current Renaissance levy expires in 2024.
In other business next week jurors will hold hearings and votes on two industrial tax exemptions for Plastipak Packaging. Total of the proposals for the enterprise on Pardue Road is $14.6 million.
Public hearing will also be held before consideration of adopting the parish’s 2024 budget.
Neither a synopsis nor the document itself is posted with the agenda. It is not required to be.
