Rapides Parish Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) deputies observed a gray car make a traffic infraction on Willow Glen River Road on May 31 around 5:20 pm and initiated a traffic stop for the offense. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Jeffrey Dale Gordon and a passenger identified as Tonya Lynn Roy. As Deputies explained why they were stopped, inconstancies in their stories alerted Deputies to possible criminal activity. Gordon, having control of the vehicle, consented to a search of the vehicle and before Deputies started their search, Roy advised there was a large amount of Methamphetamine in a black back pack in the front passenger floor board where she was sitting.
Agents with the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) were called to the scene to assist in the narcotics investigation. Agents located a large amount of suspected Methamphetamines in the backpack. No other contraband was discovered and Gordon and Roy were placed under arrest and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where they were each booked for possession of CDS II with intent to distribute. Roy was also booked for a parole violation.
As RADE Agents continued their investigation, they were able to developed an address of where the suspected Methamphetamines came from. From their investigation, Agents were also able to conclude that a suspect, identified as Derrieus Marecell Price Sr., was who allegedly sold the Methamphetamine to Roy and Gordon. A search warrant was obtained for Price’s residence at 1502 Willow Glen River Road, Alexandria. RADE Agents executed the search warrant and conducted a search of the residence where no further narcotics were located. However, Agents did locate over $8,000 in Price’s bedroom. Price was unable to provide a legitimate source of the cash so it was seized as evidence pending a further investigation. Price was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked for distribution of CDS II and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.
RADE Agents say their investigation is still ongoing. The final weight amount of the suspected methamphetamine was 9.2 ounces with a monetary value of approximately $3,600.
