Franklinton man arrested in Rapides Parish on drug charges

Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit – Highway Interdiction Team K-9 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 49 north of Alexandria for improper lane usage on April 17.
 
Deputies contacted the driver, identified as Micheal Julius Miner, 21 of Franklinton, and could immediately smell what they believed to be the strong odor of Marijuana coming from vehicle. Miner admitted to Deputies that he had approximately one gram of Marijuana in the vehicle.
 
A free air sniff of the vehicle was conducted by the K-9 and a positive alert was observed. Deputies conducted a physical search of the interior of the vehicle where they discovered one hundred THC vape cartridges, over seven pounds of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun.
 
Miner was placed under arrest and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he was booked for possession of CDS 1 with intent to distribute (Marijuana) > 2.5 pounds, illegal carry of a firearm with illegal drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage.
The Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit is a multi-jurisdictional team comprised of the Alexandria Police Department, Ball Police Department, Boyce Police Department, Cheneyville Police Department, Forest Hill Police Department, Glenmora Police Department, Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office Lecompte Police Department, McNary Police Department, Pineville Police Department, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Woodworth Police Department, Grant Parish District Attorney’s Office and the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.
